Dishwasher sequel for Xbox Arcade

The original Dishwasher game (Dead Samurai) wonf the first Microsoft Dream-Build-Play contest back in 2007. Upon winning $10,000 and a publishing contract for Xbox Live Arcade, winner James Silva is currently developing the second instalment; The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile.

Silva’s inspiration for the popular 2D action platformer stems from 2004 when he himself had taken a job washing dishes. He felt that role offered little respect even though martial arts expert and actor Bruce Lee was once a dishwasher too. And jeez, Silva began to construct a game centralised on a dish washer that “mercilessly slaughtered piles of extremely well trained evil minions.” Translated, this basically means a hell of a lot of in game gore!

You’re thrown straight into the action, surrounded by soiled plates with not a single integrated dishwasher in sight look like you’ve a hard night’s work ahead of you! Alas! Reservoir Dog type folk start come at your like nobodies business (for reasons unbeknown to me at this point) but you – as the ninja quick and slimline dishwasher must mutilate them with meat cleaver combos and lightening bolts. You don’t even question your actions; you just know these suited and booted fiends must die! Furthermore, coins burst out from your murdered foe and these can be used to buy weapon upgrades and bonuses. It’s truly a mental concept, but the quick pace and grotesque graphics make it a very engaging one.

Vampire Smile is rumoured to have built on the graphic novel-inspired aesthetics to produce and even more visually gruesome game play. New weapons include a six foot long syringe (known as the Painkiller) and a Violence Hammer, comprised of a girder wrapped in barbed wire. The game will also include a co-op mode and an endless dish challenge.

I think that a integrated dishwasher may be needed…
